Electric scooter motor
If you push the scooter too hard, it can slip out from underneath you. It must be noted, though, that sharp corners are a no-go since the square profile of the tires means that the scooter can’t effectively grip the road. The tires do, however, deliver enough grip to handle its speedy acceleration. There’s no getting away from it: air-filled tires are better at absorbing shocks and cushioning the ride. The one thing letting it down is the solid tires. Sporting wide handlebars that enhance the scooter’s handling and maneuverability, as well as dual spring and swingarm suspension that soaks up the shocks and vibrations from uneven surfaces, the SPLACH Twin may not quite reach the highest echelons on the buttery-smooth scale – but it gets admirably close. The fear, of course, is that such an affordable dual-motor scooter will skimp in other areas to secure its headline. Needless to say, this Trojan is also the best hill-climber in its price category, with moderate inclines well within its capabilities. Carrying a 48V 15.6Ah battery, this scooter can also churn through an impressive maximum range of 28 miles – or 21 miles if you’re flexing those motors. Though it just falls short of the 30 mph qualifying pace (for the Fast category), I believe the Twin’s torquey motors more than justify its inclusion on this list.Īnd a one-dimensional budget speed merchant, the Twin is not.

The WideWheel Pro – perhaps its closest pound-for-pound competitor – costs $200 more, has smaller 500W motors, a slower top speed of 26 mph, and an acceleration rate that’s 38% slower in reaching 25 mph. Armed with its dual 600W motors, the SPLACH Twin’s top speed of 28 mph leaves other similarly priced models quaking in its shadow. So, let’s get right to the reason you’re here: speed. It’s lowered the bar – and we don’t mean that as a slight.
Having raised $770,000 off the back of its promise to build an affordable dual-motor scooter, SPLACH delivered on the hype with a model that has transformed the market.
